Kedarkanta Summit

Trek Overview

Kedarkanta is arguably the most popular winter trek in India. Located in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarkashi district, this trek offers a perfect mix of adventure, breathtaking views, and cultural immersion.

Standing at an altitude of 12,500 feet, the summit provides a stunning 360-degree view of the Himalayan ranges, including Swargarohini, Black Peak, and Bandarpoonch. The trek passes through dense pine forests and beautiful meadows, culminating at the serene Juda-ka-Talab.

Day 1 Dehradun to Sankri (Drive)

Pick up from Dehradun Railway Station/Airport and drive to Sankri, the base camp for Kedarkanta trek.

The 200 km drive takes you through Mussoorie, Barkot, and Purola, following the beautiful Tons River. Arrive in Sankri by evening and check into a guest house.

Briefing session and overnight stay in Sankri.

Day 2 Sankri to Juda-ka-Talab (Trek)

After breakfast, begin your trek towards Juda-ka-Talab. The trail passes through dense pine and oak forests.

Juda-ka-Talab is a beautiful high-altitude lake that remains frozen during winter. It's a perfect spot for camping under the stars.

Overnight stay in tents at Juda-ka-Talab.

Day 3 Juda-ka-Talab to Summit & Back

Start early at 3:00 AM for the summit push. Trek through snow-covered trails to reach the Kedarkanta Summit (12,500 ft) by sunrise.

Witness the spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas. After spending some time at the summit, descend back to the base camp / Juda-ka-Talab.

Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 4 Base Camp to Sankri & Dehradun

After breakfast, descend back to Sankri village. It's an easy downhill trek through the forests.

Reach Sankri and board the vehicle for your drive back to Dehradun. Arrive in Dehradun by evening with a sense of achievement and beautiful memories.
